Nemco Electronics Corporation was founded in New York in 1975 with a charter to become a world class supplier of tantalum capacitors.  Sensing a void in the tantalum supply chain after a serious shortage of supply in the early ‘70’s, Nemco’s focus has been to meet the demand for tantalum capacitors in the manufacturing sectors often ignored by competitors. Nemco’s corporate headquarters relocated to Northern California in 1979 in order to be better positioned to service the growing manufacturing population in the West while gaining the added advantage of proximity to the Far East. 

Nemco’s focus on supplying this one dielectric type, solid tantalum, gives us the advantage of concentrating all of our resources, technology and manpower to offer unsurpassed levels of product quality and customer service to our market which includes the growing contract manufacturing community. Nemco’s ongoing technology road map has evolved to meet the changing needs of the electronics manufacturing sector.  From the radial leaded and manually inserted  components of the early 70’s to the sub-miniature, ultra low ESR, low profile and extended range values of surface mount parts required today, we strive to stay ahead of the curve in developing and supplying the components needed by an evolving industry.   

Nemco is committed to provide high quality tantalum capacitors and to making them readily accessible to all world markets with a strong emphasis on North American. Our sub-miniature, radial leaded dipped tantalum capacitors pioneered our position as one of the top companies in the tantalum capacitor community for volumetric efficiency and quality.  We subsequently introduced the TB series of  “State of the Art” radial dipped tantalums which was designed with all present day features such as small size, laser marking, and meniscus free leads eliminating thru hole plugging for improved solder connections and top side inspection.

In the early 1980’s the Electronics Industry pursued a downsizing program, which led to the rise of surface mount technology. Our Research and Development staff, in concert with various committees studying proposals for surface mount component standards, positioned Nemco Electronics Corporation well for this new tantalum capacitor form factor.  The Electronics Industry Association (EIA) established benchmark standards for surface mount tantalum capacitors early 1984.  Nemco Electronics was immediately able to comply.  Since then, our surface mount tantalum capacitors have grown to become our lead product type.  Our early and strong beginning in surface mount development gave rise to Nemco Electronics Corporation providing capabilities to other suppliers in need of additional capacity.

In keeping with technological demands, Nemco introduced low profile capacitors for the growing PCMCIA market and LOW ESR (type LSR) devices for the rugged requirements of switch mode power supply applications where higher ripple current handling capabilities are needed.  These new offerings when combined with our full range of standard, extended and super extended range values and recently added sizes 0402 and 0603 miniature surface mount devices provides the vehicle for continued support and growth in all markets well into the future.  We are cognizant of the demands and changes in the market place and have taken action to eliminate lead and other substances of high concern in our electronic products. This is being done to reduce the environmental impact when such products are discarded. As early as January 2004, we have provided lead free RoHS compliant tantalum capacitors.
